FAQ

What Style is your worship service?

The music at Palm Valley is blended. We have a blended mix utilizing hymnals and contemporary praise songs. The Pastor preaches out of the  New American Standard Bible (NASB) Version of the Bible. The attire for Sunday mornings is casual. We are a beach Church that often has members wearing shorts and Flip flops on Sunday mornings. We believe God deserves our reverence but deem it more than physical appearance. The congregation at Palm Valley truly is a fun, energetic group of believers that will make you feel welcome.

How do I become a Member?

You may become a member of Palm Valley Baptist Church by coming forward at the end of the worship service and sharing your decision with the pastor.  He will assist you and confirm your  decision for membership in one of the following ways:

1. Profession of Faith and Baptism

For those making the decision to become a Christian, be baptized (at a later time) and join the church.

2. Transfer of Letter

For those who have church membership in another Baptist church and desire to transfer their membership to Palm Valley.  The church clerk will communicate with that church and request that your membership be transferred.

3. Statement of Faith

For those coming from another denomination that have personally accepted Jesus Christ and have been baptized by immersion, Palm Valley will accept your statement of faith. Then the pastor will introduce you to the congregation so we all can rejoice with your decision.

Baptism

All believers should be baptized, symbolizing the death and resurrection of our Lord and the cleansing of sins.  This also shows obedience to Christ and follows His example of baptism.  A time for baptism will be set later.

Why go to Church?

There are many different reasons why people go to church.  For some, it may simply be a habit established in childhood.  For others, it could be to please another member of the family.  Some of us may go to church because the Bible tells us to keep the Sabbath holy or because the scriptures remind us to gather together.

The main reasons we should attend church are to praise, worship and give thanks to God for His many blessings.  Meeting together with our brothers and sisters in Christ is a way to show our love for our heavenly Father and to demonstrate that we have made Him Lord of our lives.  It is also a way to lend strength and support to each other in our walk with the Lord, and to learn about Him.

In addition, attending Sunday School is an important part of Christian life.  In the small group setting, Christians can further explore the Bible and share experiences that will make our daily lives richer and fuller.  It is a time for asking questions and seeking answers that cannot be explored in the worship service.

By making church and Christ part of your life, you will be rewarded far beyond your wildest dreams!  Why don’t you consider joining us?  Our hearts are open to you; and we welcome you into our Palm Valley family.

How do I become a Christian?

Becoming a Christian requires our admittance that we are sinners and accepting eternal life as a free gift from God through the atoning work of Jesus on the cross for our sins and His resurrection and victory over death. Believing Jesus did this specifically for you is all that is required.

To truly believe in God means to trust Him–in other words, we not only believe He exists, but we actually commit our lives to Him and trust Him to save us through Jesus Christ.

These Scriptures will help to have the abundant life salvation brings.

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God

Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Romans 5:8 “But God demonstrates His own love for us in this:  While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
